Well... the entrylevel seas scan vifa 5- 6" drivers with the lower fs tweeters... 500- 700 hz... think prestige drivers the ones without the serious cone breakup, try for higher Qms without chucking Qes out the window. Try for second order electrical xo. Active xo would make things a whole lot easier. Xo point below 2kHz if you can... try to get bafflestep and xo point to work together... the box must be really really stiff and small front profile, but deep preferably with a slanted front or rear baffle... just to avoid midrange leaking back through the driver by reflection of the rear panel... i would go for natural wood or laminates and granite around 32mm... tweeter woofer spacing must be very very close even to the point of modifying flanges... create large baffle roundovers. I like sealed bass in a largish box. It can be done with bass reflex... no chuffing or midrange leakage allowed. It just sounds like there is more bass than there is and excursion is a bit more controlled... not to the point the bass is stiff though. If you have a small room you can really insinuate impressive bass with a sealed box. The tweeter level will be around 1- 3dB below the midrange... and below 250hz it will anechoically go down by the same amount. Why? It gives you an upfront presentatation with a whole lot of cheapish thrills... but it wont sound cheap courtesy of the decent drivers not straining at all. The it is just humongous effort to get the sweetspot in zpeaker placement... thin measuring tape and calculator. Or a spreadsheet.
