..... I think the Ethos is as good or great as a CD Player can be - and at the end of the day its a Gryphon - one of the few mystic components from Gryphon Audio in this country. But the Ethos is more than only a CD Player and I would go that far to say it implements one of the finest sounding DACs on this planet. Jozua as Jozua is gave all...I mean all the technical infos.... but the sound of this maschine needs to be experienced. Originally this Ethos was ordered for another client and friend of mine to avoid him to pay millions for a multi component digitale device..... but he couldnt wait for the Ethos to come out, spended the millions but in my view the Ethos would ve been the better sounding product. In this context I would describe the Ethos even as a bargain in how it sounds and in how it can be used (as the ultimate DAC). But I admit when I received this Ethos I thought ...puuuuh this at such price might be really hard to sell. What should be anyhow better than my Gryphon Mikado which still is a great CD Player? In fact I thought they might overdone it here. Once this beautyful maschine was hooked up, cold but running I was simply shocked how from the first notes the sound was simply on a different level, higher league....or name it... To achieve such significant difference in sound you have to grab deep into your pockets and usually buy a far better amp - but the headroom to good, great or stunning always starts with the source...... this never ll change
