I realise that its not just about specs and price, and that some people can get great pairings with otherwise 'cheap' equipment, and I agree. Having been a studio sound engineer for the past 10 years or so before moving out here, I have learnt how different equipment can change things for better and for worse, and that expensive equipment doesn't always equate to better sound. However, I have noticed that certain pieces of equipment effect the sound the most. Speakers being the main culprit, and generally the more expensive speakers do benefit the sound more than the amp. THe other thing is the source... Have a poor source, and you are only going to be able to salvage it so much with speakers and amplification! This is what has led me on my quest. I am trying to build a system that I can potentially keep for life, hence the interest in speakers that would normally be way out of my range. The MF A3.5 is a bit of a sidetrack though, and I think I would be better to get the speakers first, as at least I can use these in the mean time, where as if I bought the amp/CD pairing, I'd have no speakers to run on them. Still, I'm open to suggestions still as to what I can try? I really don't mind getting used stuff from someone reputable, and would rather do that and get a better system, than buy new and get something lesser as a result? Dunno if that made sense? I've been up since 4am, so I'm fading fast! Regards G!
