Going to repeat what Goneten said about room acoustics. Get this sorted and everything will sound better. Put another way, you car can have the most powerful engine, trick suspension, and the best tyres money can buy. But if alignment is way out you still wont be able to go around corners any quicker than your neighbour in his Uno. Room treatment needn't be expensive either as you can put bookshelves on walls as diffusers, and a decent rug on your tiled floor could help a little bit. When I put bass traps in my room thought that the difference they made was huge. it was however difficult to determine just how big as it took time for me to stop the music and move the traps in and out of the room, and to listen again. Called a good mate over and had him sit down and listen while I started to move the traps. Moved the first one about a metre when he told me to stop and put it back, the change was that noticeable that he could hear as the trap got closer to the corner of the room. The couple of grand I spent on fitting better underfelt (the orange latex and corrugated stuff), putting shelves on part of the rear wall, and the bass traps has made my system sound better than some costing two or three times the price. (Not my claim but those that have listened to more expensive systems in untreated rooms. Oh and thank you for reading AVSA.
