Haha! I've never used a balance knob in my life (other than to check the actual speakers are working individually). Ok, lets put things into perspective..... This is my first venture into 'High End', so I've always been used to having equipment that needs some sort of tonal adjustment for the room. Having not really heard this system in my setting, I would struggle to believe that a system can just fit straight in without any ability to adjust bass or trebble? Is the Musical Fidelity A3.5 that much of a step up from Rotel that it just sounds that good? Listening to this stuff in the shop is one thing, as there they have the different speakers connected and speaker cable that costs more than I want to spend on the complete system, so I'd expect it to blow my socks off there, but when you get it into a real environment everything is different! Case in point was a Yamaha reciever I bought before the Rotel... All reviews pointed to it being a fantastic receiver, and the instore demo was great! Got it home, and set it up, and it sounded thin, whispy and just down right ugly! Even after ditching the mic's setup, I could not get it to sound good at all? I am of course not comparing the Yama to Musical Fidelity, but just learnt a lot through that experience! So, can the MF 3.5 really blow my socks off and is it worth the used value of R15k? What would be good partnering speakers for this system? Regards G!
