Hi Everyone, looks like its not largely known or advertised that we do have a handy FREE signup national service specifically in order to let you optout on a selection or all Direct Marketing sectors.

I signed up to opt out on ALL Direct Marketing services 7+ years ago and can vouch that it really works exceptionally well, especially considering that for business purposes our telephone numbers are displayed widely on the WEB.

You will have to 'renew' (log in, check your details is up to date and submit) within every 3 years to keep it going, but the Database saves your details for easy checking, changing and re-submitting. I have set a repeating reminder to remind me every 30 months (2.5 years) to renew as to prevent any lag or interruption in the service.

Here is the URL to this totally FREE service offered by the Direct Marketing Association:

Here is the text on the main landing page, where everything is explained in simple English: https://www.nationaloptout.org/

The DMA National OPT OUT Database
Registering on this database will mean that you will not be contacted by members of the DMA (Direct Marketing Association of Southern Africa).

This helps you to make sure your address, email address, telephone and cell number are no longer available to organisations, who are members of the DMA, who want to make offers and send information that you do not wish to receive. You can also do this by contacting companies directly and asking them not to contact you.

Before you register however...
You should reflect on the fact that registering may well prevent you from receiving information which you would really like to have - thereby cutting you off from relevant and worthwhile opportunities. For example charities use telemarketing as an economical way to raise awareness and much needed support.

If you are happy to receive direct marketing contacts from some companies but not others, contact the companies who you do not wish to hear from and ask them to remove your details from their contact lists. Registering your details could stop all contacts from all companies registered with the DMA, including charities and voluntary organisations who you might want to support.

Registration requirements

When you register you will be required to enter a valid RSA ID number and email address and/or cell number.
You will also be prompted to provide other contact details that you wish NOT to be contacted.
On completion of the registration, once you have clicked the SUBMIT button, you will receive an email requesting that you confirm that you want to be on the National Opt Out Database.
Once we have received your confirmation you will then be registered.
If you do not respond within 5 days your details will be deleted.
It will take +/-6 weeks for this service to be fully effective i.e for all members of the DMASA to stop contacting you.
