Hi all,

Im awaiting my Harmony 1100 remote controller order and in anticipation Im doing some research on how should I go about in starting up and shutting down my pc with the remote controller. My entertainment system is in the living room and the computer that has all my media source is in a different room. The idea is to be able to turn on and shut down the computer from my living room.

Does any one know how I can achieve this? Is there a USB RF remote receiver that can be paired with a PC and a harmony remote?
Im running ubuntu and PS3 media server, in case it does help

Easiest option is to use standby mode.
How would I go about sending a "standby" and a "wake up" signal to the pc? My current blocker is the interface between the remote controller and the pc.

Thanks

I have a hp remote reciever that plugs into the pc, and in the remote profile ( Harmony 525 ) add a media pc, shut down works, don't know about startup though. As long as there's power to the reciever and the buttons are set up right, no reason it shouldn't work :) . I'll have a look when I get home tonight and let you know.
