[QUOTE="BillyBawb, post: 560916, member: 13475"] The DM601's work for near field - I'm perfectly happy with those in the study, but will try others as I go along. The current challenge is the man cave... I'm happy with keeping the CM7's in principle, as they perform better than I expected there - though this is the start of seeing what's out there and what works with entry level and mid range amps and decent AVR's, as well as trying out pre and power combos. I'm not criticizing speakers - everyone has their tastes - so just voicing my own... I'm experimenting to see what works, and what doesn't. Even the mx1 - I don't dislike it. It just doesn't work for me in the least. The Tempo's will stay till I get them sounding right, like I've come to expect of Audio Physics. Once I figure out what they need amp and source wise, it becomes a value calculation. If I can get away with a 200W/ch Rotel and get them performing admirably, then great, I'll make a plan to keep them, even if I have to re-purpose the man-cave a bit - but in the same breath, I'm not dropping R50k on Krell / MF / Emotiva / Levinson kit to get them sounding right to me. Similarly, if I like the house sound of the Meridians, they may take up residence, without the worry of amplification - good source, decent Pre-amp, and you're set. Somewhere along the line I'll try some DIY speakers as well, and perhaps some Monitor Audio / Sonus Faber kit... In short, there's lots of playing to be done. Have snowboard, will slippery slope.
