The guys who played yesterday have probably now secured their places in the A team for the rest of the build-up to and including RWC 2019, except for players like Lood de Jager, Duane Vermeulen and the two right wing candidates that are out injured, who would still be in the mix. Lets hope that they have turned a corner and keep it up...we can't slip back to what we have seen in the previous two tests...
I watched it alone at home (obviously not expecting much) and I am sure I heard a collective country-wide sigh of relief when the final whistle was heard. Gosh. OK, the Boks were very lucky (as the stats would suggest) with Barrett missing his kicks, while poor Flo pushed the luck deep into the red when he knocked an easy pass when the Boks had possession and were positioned more or less at the halfway line. From there the All Blacks put us under siege for the remainder of the game and with only 14 men defending, I had this sickening feeling that an All Black score that would seal the match was inevitable. But the Boks cranked up their defence, which was pretty much AMAZING throughout the game, and they somehow survived. Wow, but to score 5 tries against the AB's in NZ and to keep them out...that was massive in the context of where this team stand right now and where they aim to go. Which brings me to the team itself.
