Sadly I think this reflects society disregard for sound quality in general, which has lead us to iPod's and shoddy recordings as the norm in the global music industry. I went to see the Lion King Theater show at MoteCasino two years ago and was blown away by the show but disappointed with the sound. Now remember that that theatre had been built specifically to Disney's specs specifically for the Lion King (apparently no existing theatre met their specs). The sound was OK (granted its difficult to get it perfect at all points in such a large place) but distorted quite painfully in loud passages, which is such an stupid fault to have in a multi-million rand installation! When I remarked about that after the show everyone in our party's attitude was "what are you nitpicking about the show was amazing!". The average person I think is far more tolerant to poor sound and either doesn't notice it or doesn't care. So why go to all the bother getting it right when nobody complains?
