 I have been following Blackblaze hard drive tests for a while now. Remember these tests are done over a yearly period, with the objective of keeping reliable backups. Also to note, is that some of those hard drive models are not available in South Africa. So, these factors need to be considered when looking at the results. I can attest that the Toshiba drives we get in SA, is rubbish. I would not touch them. My first choice has always been Western Digital, then Seagate. For home use, these both perform adequately and are very reliable. If Hitachi, drives were available in South Africa, I would definitely buy them, as I have a 320Gb drive running for over 7yrs now, without a hick up in my old work notebook. Hard drives fail, when they are not transported safely or are manhandled. So, my advice, as always, don't buy hard drives from any Retail store like, Game or Makro. Buy it from a Computer Store, like Computer Mania, Takealot, Incredible Connection and others, as they know how to handle hard drives, whether internal or external. just my :2c:
