I live in a small complex and we've decided we want to put our communal systems related to security on a solar/battery backup with a hybrid inverter. We need to be able to power the following for +- 6 hours during worst load shedding (they are all fed from the same DB): 1. Electric fence energizer (Druid 28) 2. Centurion gate motor (D 10) 3. Mircell / Combs communication cellphone based intercom system 4. Small CCTV system (PoE) - 1 x NVR 5. Guard house panic and alarm signal receiver/radio 6. 2 x 40Watt LED floodlights We had a solar installer suggest a 5kw hybrid inverter and 2 x 4.8kw lithium ion batteries. It seems overkill to me given that the loads are really small and that most of the above is backed up for 6 hours +with old lead acid style batteries already that are nowhere near the above capacity. Any thoughts on approximately what the dimensioning of the inverter and batteries for such a system should be?
