Found a pic of what seems to be that amp (Alpha 6) at http://media.photobucket.com/image/cambrige%20alpha6%20amp/cafesound/ar6-2.jpg I don't see any output relay. Does your amp give an audible click (of the relay switching) when you switch it on Alternativeroute? If it has no relay, and if there is some imbalance in the input stages (almost unavoidable) then it will take a while for the (presumably) large cap in the feedback loop to settle to it's final value. You can then see the speakers moving slowly back to their rest position as the offset voltage settles. One can tweak for better balance in the input stage, around the input pair emitters or at the input mirror if they use one, but without a schematic it's a bit hard to say where exactly. Not expensive parts, just time. I'm not sure there is anything wrong there, a bit of offset voltage is more of a bad style thing.
