[QUOTE="mygoggie, post: 907564, member: 18916"] I have been wondering and thinking a lot on how to get the raised lettering on the back plate cleaned and coated again. I was not keen to sand the surface down to get the existing paint or ink off. Neither was I interested in using thinners or acetone to remove it as it surely would damage the plastic. Last night I put the two plates in my cleaning solution to see if the flaps will clean up. This morning when I removed the flaps and scrubbed them with my trusty old toothbrush, the ink/paint on the lettering came off very easily. What a relief that was! So in the back plate went and a few hours later it came out clean and I could scrub all the lettering clean. Interesting most of the yellowing also disappeared with the plate much whiter than before. Very interesting, must be the ammonia. :teach: Here is the cleaned back plate ready for the lettering to be coated. Tomorrow I will be off to the art shop to buy a small rubber roller and some quality acrylic paint to cover the lettering with.
