The DIY EL84 amp I bought from sergiochinelli has a missing rectifier. Based on the connections, possible candidates i found were these: I'm sure that it should be a 5U4, because the 'B+' (before filtering) comes off pin 2 (not 8), which would seem to exclude the GZ34/5AR4. Also, it goes into a 10H choke, which is what is specified in the GE 5U4GB Datasheet. Am i right? Of course there could be others that I didn't find, but the 5U4 seems quite common in EL84 applications. It's the empty socket in this pic: Also, the preamp valves are ECC81 and ECC82. I'd assume the ECC81 is the first stage and the ECC82 the phase splitter? They were removed from the amp. PS: does anyone have a 5U4 to offload? (if it's the right one) ;D
