Hi guys, my dad has a Pioneer DV-344 DVD player gathering dust, and I was wondering how the CD playback would be since it's stated on the front of the player (in big gold letters) "96kHz 24bit D/C Converter".
I'm not to worried about playing DVD's, since I've got a HTPC in my setup (the DVD player only has S-video, Component and RCA and no HDMI).
What kind of sound quality could I expect? I'd be connecting it via optical to my Onkyo NR717
Some specs according to the manual:
Audio output
Output level
During audio output ............. 200 mVrms (1 kHz, ?20 dB)
Number of channels ....................................................... 2
Jacks ............................................................... RCA jacks
Digital audio characteristics
Frequency response ..... 4 Hz to 44 kHz (DVD fs: 96 kHz)
S/N ratio ............................................................... 118 dB
Dynamic range ..................................................... 103 dB
Total harmonic distortion ................................. 0.0016 %
Wow and flutter ............................ Limit of measurement (?0.001% W. PEAK) or lower
