I have pets that are quite good at sorting them out. Firstly, the cat. Only negative is she brings them to your bedroom for approval. Then I had a Pekingese that took no prisoners when it came to our flying friends but the poor dog has very sadly passed on. Now, in support of the cat, there are two miniature Schnauzers that just loves catching them. The Retriever is pretty useless at killing, or retrieving anything, for that matter and just lies there watching the spactacle unfold. Just leave a dog bowl with some food out next to a waterbowl. Pigeons find it irresistable (so does the fat Schnauzer), still, it seems to work. The pigeons are mostly gone, even the ones nesting under my roof at one stage. There is generally nowadays just some unlucky roaming soul that has his last meal at my place. Seems word gets around the pigeon community not to eat at my house. Only problems with that is: They sort out ALL birds indiscriminantly, you have to expect the cat to carry any kill to the bedroom and the one Schnauzer now looks like a submarine from eating any food left over that the pigeons don't get to! Good luck, they are indeed a pest but I could never shoot them, being too scared the neighbours will blab me out for pipping them with a pellet in a res area. Otherwise I would have!
