Hello everyone, I've been looking at getting outdoor beams (the PIR type) for intruder detection. I've narrowed down my options to basically these two: Optex BX-80 https://www.idsprotect.co.za/za/en/products/detectors/outdoor-detectors/optex-bx80-detectors/862-01-bx-80nc-optex-bx80-detector Optex BXS-AM https://www.idsprotect.co.za/za/en/products/detectors/outdoor-detectors/optex-bxs-detectors/862-01-bxs-am-optex-bxs-wired-detectors1 Both have a long narrow 24m detection range (12m to each side, none to the front). The only real difference seems to be the BXS-AM has anti-masking. It seems like it would be easy to simply walk up to the BX-80 (while the alarm is armed) and block either the upper or lower sensors and thereby rendering the detector useless. Anti-masking is supposed to detect such masking attempts and set off the alarm. But our security guys tells me beams with anti-masking tends to give lots of false alarms in their experience. Especially if dust starts to settle on the lenses. Does anyone here have beams with anti-masking? Whats your experience been like with regards to false alarms?
