Thanks Gents What you're all saying has merit. I did use the Audyssey setup mice a few times because the amp is in a double volume room with intricate nooks & stuff. I think I try to set it up in a hurry 'cause not much time is left between the 2 year old going to bed and me getting ready for the next day. That's where I found the Yammies easier to use. I just don't understand why the center channel would blank out on me in DTS and in the next movie I'd get more response at the back than in front. And now I'm gonna get Blaxamed (that's much more violent than blixemed) with criticism - I know...! The Onkyo is paired with Bose Accoustimass. Yes, I know. I know... And I probably deserve it. But it still doesn't explain why I can simply insert a disk, press play, choose a sound mode, sit back, watch movie. Eish, a lot of setup work. Oddly enough, zone 2 has a pair of Jamo Concerts on it and it's sublime, vivid, clear, great kids/vocals and firm bass - but then there are no sound modes on Zone 2... Ag, anyways, just my experience. Now, if you'll excuse me - I have to go check for oil leaks under that new Land Rover engine...
