Thanks, I will ask for "radio dial chord" at my local electronics hobby shop. They rarely have what I need, but they might surprise me! Regards Leon PS. A while back I had a problem with my CD loading tray not closing far/strong enough to engage the laser head - so I sprayed a little Q20 or silicone spray which made it much worse. Only then did I see the mechanism has a (old streched & hardened) rubber band which I lubricated! (Of course I only consulted the internet after that, and everywhere you read "Do not spray any lubrication on the loading mechanism!") So I had to dismantle the whole thing, clean it up, and re-grease it. Everywhere on the net they refer to "plastic gear grease", and you're not supposed to use just any grease because petroleum based grease (e.g. vaseline) can attack the plastic. So I started searching high & low for "plastic gear grease", not no one knew about it or stocked any, even the few repair shops I phoned didn't have any.
