Alternativeroute, I'm reading up on HD radio as the links suggest that receiver can decode. It's new to me. It appears that the digital stream(s) are broadcast on the same band as the analog signal. It also appears that there may be some problems with this approach. I would read at least the manual carefully before considering the purchase, especially between the lines. The more so if your reception is somewhat marginal. I am not even sure when/if any local station might use the HD system, but it might be wise to find out all these things first. It could even be a useful function to just switch off. As Rodney and LAV suggest, the receiving aerial is the more relevant thing to look at if things are spread a bit thin where you are. Maybe see http://www.avforums.co.za/index.php/topic,1865.0.html for some tips. For a long time, nobody made their own RF front ends even. It was more economical to just fit a ready-made front-end in a little metal box from a source like Mitsumi. So to some extent they're all the same in terms of what you can expect. I've even seen old (mechanical capacitor in stead of varactor-tuned) radio receivers that picked up stations in marginal areas better than new synthesised tuners, using the same aerial. Tweaking them slightly is often possible, but a very slippery slope to be on and best avoided.
