^^^ Sometimes you can have too much music and never do justice to it. I have had this Christian McBride (among others) album for a while and have not listened to it for a while. Today it completely blew me away, played it a good few times and I could not believe that I have not listened to it more regularly. What surprised me....normally you would find him doing the standard upright acoustic bass thing as band leader and accompanying other A-list artists e.g. Diana Krall, etc. However, here he plays music that equals Marcus Miller at his best and with the accompaniment to die for. Ron Blake equals Mark Turner on sax while Terren Gully's drumming easily matches Poogie Bell's intensity and time keeping. Geoffrey Keezer on Piano & keyboards, David Gilmore on guitar and the percussionist Danny Sadownick rounds out this group. Amazing music! This is one album that is moving to top of my listening pile for the next few weeks.
