Well, my viewing angle is 90 deg to the screen. I had the Samsung series 8 (which is 1920 x 1080) on next to the Panasonic Viera. Despite being the same size on the box, the Panasonic is 20mm smaller measured diagonally. Hardly a difference But the blacks are really black and the images crisp and clean. It does not do much for older DVDs but downloaded and streamed video like Netflix is very good It also costs 1/3 that of the Samsung. However, I am getting an upgrade add-on board from Samsung for this one via a friend who runs a TV repair place. He is of the opinion I won't want to change after fitting this. Especially since the board is free
