Could not agree more! I did not go the HTIB route, but started off buying cheap seperate components. In the end I had to spend more and more money until I got fed-up and decided to investigate each component I was interested in. A friend of mine wants to buy an HT setup now and I made some recommendations, but his wife decided that a R3000 Phillips setup is all they need - their 2nd HTIB system in less than two years! Talking about the state of HT in SA, how about the adverts claiming 100 watts RMS per channel from a R2000 HTIB system! I wish that a standard be set to do proper measurement of equipment to allow the average buyer to make a more informed decision. Yes, I know watts/ch is only a small part of the equation, but I feel some standardization will help a bit. Something else that really annoys me in the SA HT market is the bad quality sound on some Music DVDs distrubuted locally! Previously I could not easily pick out the bad recordings, but it seems the "better" your equipment becomes, the more apparent the bad recordings are. By the same token off course the better the recording, the more obvious that becomes as well. By the way Skinny, congrats on getting your receiver! I have only heard good comments about it!
