My smart TV stopped working years ago so it is used as a monitor on my AV receiver. I use my Xbox as my main "media PC" / streaming device at the moment. It works well for most things (we watch a lot of Youtube and some Netflix mostly) but like any other proprietary device, is limited by app support. AFAIK most streaming services, be that Spotify, Youtube, Youtube Music, Showmax, Netflix, Hulu, Amazon Prime, Disney TV, etc are all available on PC. Buy a Firestick, Chromecast device, Apple TV, etc and you will find something not supported, eventually. Some of my own stumbling blocks... F1 TV - I have to plug my laptop in via HDMI as they are still working on console support. The laptop works fine but its a shlep to hook up my monster 17" developer's rig and hopefully do it in time not to miss the race's start. Showmax sport - Just signed up to watch the EURO and some Olympics as they now do live sport. Yes the Xbox has Showmax app support but for some reason it doesn't show the live sport...drag out the laptop again. So perhaps the Xbox is really my limitation or maybe a new smart TV will solve above issues (at least for Showmax sport) but a real computer still seems like the most versatile in my mind...??
