Local options for decent USB and rca cables?

Hi

So I'm not deep enough into audio and maybe not emotionally ready to splurge on high end cables that are usually discussed here, but surely the next option can't be just cheapies off Takealot. I'm looking to get a USB A to B cable for my PC to dac, but is there a solid middle ground option that's available locally?

I also need a short length of rca terminated cable to go from my headphone amp to dac on my desktop setup.

Any suggestions would be awesome!! Thank you!

Thanks! I can solder, yeah. What spec cable would I need in the case of the rca to rca from my dac to headphone amp?

Are there any USB cable options that lie between Wireworld and a cheapie?

Cheers all

There is the Lindy brand of USB and audio cables.  Well made and robust, yet not extraordinarily expensive.

Suggest the USB cable be as short as possible.  My own one is 0.5m but might not be practical for some people

ohhh thanks!

So I've read about and saw you were involved in a "is USB/digital cable really snake oil" sorta discussion on here. I'm in the same boat that bits are bits surely.

I won't get into that here now lol, but I saw you mentioned get the shortest cable length you can. I'm deciding between 1m and 2m, and depends where you read, some say that's never going to make a difference, and others say it's a massive difference. What has been your experience?

Cheers!

Length - as short as you can manage.  The build quality (cable and plugs) is perhaps more important than length.  Also bear in mind proximity to power cables

Pay attention to USB sockets, keep them clean, a squirt of contact cleaner spray would not go unrewarded.  PC USB socket are often not especially robust.

Great, thank you! I'm actually currently struggling with pops and clicks while playing music. It's outright pissing me off. I thought it was the dac, but changed usb ports and cables and seemed fine. Then it started last night again.

I need to go through this more carefully, it's such a buzzkill

Thanks for the heads up! I did see that, it's just 2m longer than I need and I don't know if I should be fussy about this anymore! I'm still skeptical about digital cables making a sonic difference, nevermind cable lengths :/

I've had the same problem with cables. It turned out to be the plug/socket match. I went through three different cables before finding one that was a proper fit with the socket on my media player. The brand that worked? Ellies high speed HDMI cable from my nearest Hyperama!

absolutely,regarding USB cable.
And I can also recommend bass power line separation from data line in USB cable like that, if you are interested in :

Woah ok! Never seen that before...

I'm starting to think it could be that the cable/connector doesn't like the temperature when the dac gets fully warm. I don't know.

Currently might go with a 1m Wireworld and hope for the best!

Might I ask where you got this cable?
I'd be quite keen to get one myself.

Good Day all

I'm looking for a reasonable priced cable I can use to make up a 10m subwoofer rca cable? Preferred local supplier please. I'm not prepared to pay R1200 for a cheap and nasty cable from Takealot.

Thanx.

RG58 with suitable connectors, dirt cheap but effective.
