[QUOTE="ghostinthemachine, post: 443129, member: 760"] Mike, without your help with the bases this project would have been half-arsed. Stripping the paint off those grills was a nightmare. Its like the paint they used was bullit-proof or something. I soaked it for days in brake-fluid, thinners and even strong detergent and it was slow to budge. Ended up sanding most of it off and then doing touch-ups with a wire-brush in hand. My hands were knackered. The biggest stress was the 0.6 micron aluminum ribbon... but with a brand-new scalpel blade, steady hands and patience I got them both re-ribboned as per factory spec. Side-note: [i]It is almost impossible to try and explain how extremely fragile this aluminum ribbon is. When dropped from a 1 meter distance the ribbon itself takes a good few seconds before it lands gently on the ground. When installed but not yet tensioned it flaps around at the slightest movement of a hand nearby. A sneeze directly aimed at it will surely "kill" it. By touching it lightly ones fingerprints are embossed onto it.
