We had a Samsung colour laser. Replacement toner was (last I bought, in 2018) R4,400 on special in a 4-pack bundle at Makro. Individually they were R1,400 each. I bought it as the old HP inkjet cartridges were so stupidly expensive & barely lasted longer than the blink of an eye. Samsung had built-in obsolescence. After "x" number of pages - printed or copied it threw an error. Easy fix (google is your friend) by simply replacing a resistor. A 10 pack from RS cost something daft like R50-00. Only used one of them. Then after another "x" pages the waste toner collector must be replaced. I emptied & cleaned it. Printer was happy it was "new". The a little later it throws error that "x" number of pages have been printed, so drum must be replaced. It doesn't even start to generate bad print, it simply stops printing. Chucked it out early 2019. Still had a full 4-pack of toners. Gave those away eventually. Bought a basic Epson ink-tank. It came with "enough ink to print 20,000 pages - one bottle each of CMY & 3 of K. We're 2 years in & colours are still at 50% whilst I just started the third bottle of black.
