^^^ I had problems with squeezelite 1.3 dying on me on ubuntu 13.04. I think ubuntu 13.04 is still very buggy and full of memory leaks. I am currently using ubuntu server 12.04.4 and Squeezelite v1.5-dev I have also added an auto reboot every morning at 3am under root's crontab entry simply because I am really not interested in why things are going wrong.
0 3 * * * /sbin/reboot
With this combination I have not had a single problem. I only use my wandboard for playback. I have a feeling this will be fine even if you use samba, nfs and LMS on your wandboard and you should not have any problems. Who cares if the uptime is not the same as production servers. As long as it plays music when I need it to. The only reason I stick to ubuntu is because I know it better than the other distros. The server addition is also reasonably lightweight. For those of you who maybe interested. I have a little script in /usr/bin called setvolume2max.sh that I call from my squeezelite startup in /etc/init.d with the following in:
/usr/bin/amixer -cDAC sset 'PCM',0 0 100% unmute
(This ensures that the output is always set to MAX and is specific for a DAC e.g. Vivere or HifiDIY DAC) if you want to set the analogue output to max volume use this
/usr/bin/amixer -c 0 set Headphone playback 100% unmute
As u can see you need the alsa-mixer installed. I have not had a single problem with this setup and the wandboard is working perfect.
