I know they are sought after for their apparent quality but was wondering if any Japanese plants have re-opened with the current vinyl resurgence?

Yes there are
But don't get swayed by the hype that by definition, Japanese vinyl and pressings will automatically be better

You could have a look at https://www.rarerecords.net/record-info/japanese-records/

A US friend has purchased some LP records from them and just says that while they are quieter and better-made than LP records from the 1980's, they are no better than a US or German sourced factory

However, they are quite expensive

Thanks for the responses.
Apparently another 'audiophile' pressing plant is opening this year.
