AKG have traditionally been positive tilt (aka less bass more highs) and what many people don't realize, is that many pro headphones are designed to be run off 120 Ohm output impedance Jacks which helps tone down the top end on an AKG or Beyer can just the right amount. I believe modern Senns and most consumer cans are designed to run on 0 Ohms output impedance, though I speak under correction. Many people don't realize, that headphones in the production environment are heavily skewed in favour of voice intelligibility and have a broad mid-range peak (Beyerdynamic DT-100 is the absolute classic but this genre is represented by AKG and others too)... I have not yet seen AKG cans for sale in local stores, is their newer line os consumer headphones represented in SA? Edit: finger trouble
