In my (limited) experience the Sennies always sounded quite clean if a little reserved untill a few years ago, the Grado were more exuberant but a little ponderous. Comfort of Grado was less and seems to be universally moaned about. Apparently fitting somme senheiser I think 414 sponges helps. In the mean time Sennheiser has changed and not all their models aim for the same neutrality, some are deliberately voiced. I found the headroom site a great help in "subjectively" describing cans. A mate who runs a shop selling instruments is a big AKG fan and I must say that those he played for me have been very good. They seem to have a range that appears quite clean and neutral but with a little more zest then sennies. Can not give you model specifics. I own a set of 515, not bad buit the 555 are worth the extra and would get my vote ext time. They are harder to tweak with better cablle though then the 580/600/650. ;)
