Then cut this with a sharp knife (stanley knives works excellent). STEP 11: Using a scraper/pallet knife/brush apply glue to the cornice. Dont worry if you use too much or if the glue is not evenly spread. STEP 12: Start mounting the cornices in the least noticible area. In my case I started in the passage. I left the hardest bits for last. This was the corners where the trunking met 2 cornices. Once mounted, use a plastic scraper to wipe off excess glue. then use a damp cloth (I soaked in hot water and sugar soap) to remove any glue from the wall, cornice and ceiling as this can get messy. TIP: Do the above as you generally get better as you go along. Another big challenge was that my ceiling was not straight and this can prove to be quite irritating. I initially tried stepping the cornice but abandoned the idea as it was quite untidy. Polystylene cornices have a degree of flexibility so stick them trying best to join the ends. In my case I ended up with some gaps between the top of the cornice and the ceiling. Dont worry about this for now. Wash you hands often as the glue is quite thick.
