Low volume importing is no excuse. I can import the DV-981H directly from the USA for less than R2800. That includes the shipping, import duties and local VAT. That's exactly what I did with my DV-970H. The thing that irks me is that I cannot buy directly from Oppo USA because we now have a local dealer, so I have to resort to other means for buying directly from Oppo USA (like using friends who live there). This whole thing was triggered because I wanted to buy the new DV-983H player from Oppo that's listed for $399. It uses the ABT chipset for de-interlacing and upscaling - typically found only in expensive video processors that cost $1500 to $2000. Kris Deering from Secrets of Home Theater has tested this player and stated that it has the best video performance of any DVD player he has ever tested, including players that cost ten times more. It also has outstanding audio quality. It was given the best player of 2007 award as a result. Here is the link: http://www.hometheaterhifi.com/cd-dvd-player-product-reviews/dvd-players/oppo-digital-dv-983h-dvd-player---a-secrets-dvd-benchmark-review.html If I import this player directly from the USA it will be for less than R5000 total, which I will do. I shudder to think how much Audio Tweak will ask for this - probably R10,000!? It's just irritating that I now have to ask my friends in the USA to do it on my behalf and sent it to me. Shonver, I agree completely with your sentiments - I also won't do business with sellers that resort to such tactics.
