Hennie, I'm no fundi on amps like yourself and Ampdog. But the cap in series are somtimes used to prvent DC through the speaker, not only in case of fault but always. Not using a centre tap, 0V common and +70V gives 70V out to the speakers when switched on in the case of the old Autona amp modules that used to be so popular for DIY disco use. It cost me an amp and speakers when I accedently shorted out the cap once. Dewald, I have a cheap Fidek 150W/ch, that sound like sh@tin HiFi setup. My brother use the Samson 150W/ch on his subwoover, and it sound great. But x-over distortion is probably not an issue with subs. I have the two Behringer pro amps 300W and 450W (8ohm rating) that I bought from Gert, and their fans are just to noisy for home use. I also have a JB systems 500W RMS into 8ohms power amp. This coiuld very well be used in HiFi setup. Fans are very quite, and sound really good even for Hi-Fi use. The guy that I bought it from however still preferred the Rotel power amp over it, but I can't comment as I haven't compared.
