I am using the Hi-Fi news Test LP and I need help with configuring my system. I shall admit that I have neglected to ever do this and thus it does leave me a bit cold. It is so bad that I don?t pass the first band of the test LP. This is the channel identification band. What is supposed to be on the right is on the left. I have of course checked all the interconnects and they are right. I?m frazzled on the speakers and the cartridge (and/or the links that it makes down the line) as to getting them right. The next band the Phasing band is simply a joke. There isn?t a noise which appears between the speakers (or for that matter anything) and the out of phase is also nonexistent. Here I am totally lost as my speakers don?t have + or- marked on them as the cable goes straight into the cabinet. (Please don?t laugh at my old speakers I quite like them), but I can hear if I have them wrong on the amp (or at least I think I can) I would like to know which way the LP was designed to work with the speakers. Please see diagram A and B. The reason I have what might seem very elementary is in other disciplines it is inverted. E.g. the heart. Lastly I?m not buying anything so even if there is a device to do it all for me, I?m broke. (Stingy too) PS: I?m fifteen; I am allowed to be ignorant.
