OK so dampening for sure, got it. I won't be using Dynamat (or those similar sound-deadening materials) mostly because it's, well, damn expensive. Perhaps on the next build. I've seen people sommer using dog-blanket before and I like that idea. Also saw people stuffing actual pillows in there, but I think that's for a different purpose. I'll buy a piece of that dog-blanket stuff (it's cheap enough) and glue it along the entire inside of the enclosure before finalizing. I'll listen a bit (perhaps not seal the a panel completely from the start, for example) and then try to decide with my pleb ears if I will need more stuffing or not. I can say one thing though - I got a set of Pioneer "HiFi" speakers this weekend and played with them a little. They're typical modern cheap-made speakers - built with 8mm pressed wood (not even MDF or "SupaWood"), full plastic front baffle with fake allen screw heads, massive flaring ports and everything. Built to look "cool" more than anything else, and I felt that the sound they reproduced is very impersonal. I'm not sure why or what should be done with them, but for testing amps they work fine for now. Can't wait to build something that plays better though!
