Due to the drought we collect up the washing machine grey water. With a simple pool float I have managed to 'clean' the water so that is does not 'go off'. Obviously it is not potable but it is perfect for flushing the toilet. Now to get the water to the toilet cistern. At first I thought I could just rig a submersible pump to the cistern - cobble together a micro switch off the float and voila I can get water to the cistern. BUT. All the submersible pumps (I have found) run straight off mains. I was more than happy to rig up a low voltage (12v) DC system but I am definitely not fiddling with mains... I could rig up a pressure pump but that seems like overkill. Any other ideas?
