Lekke!! I am now able to spin some vinyl albums in my office, whilst pounding away on the PC keyboard. At this moment Paul McCartneys Tug of War is spinning on the OPTONICA RP-7100, connected to the NAD 3020. This machine is much more exciting than my ex-Beogram 4002. The direct-drive motor is runs very stable and quiet in QAURTZ mode. The automatic arm system needs some fine-tuning but it works surprisingly well. And dont stress, the sensor is mounted high enough so it wont gather dust balls and let 'em loose. Now the arm is not a RB-300 or such but it is very well built and sturdy. The "brand new" Audio Technica cartridge sounds sweet. I am really amazed by its great performance. Surface noise is much lower than my Grado XC+ cartridge. Maybe AT issued Optonica with special units...? The machine is perfect for the office. Now I can play a record and not fear that, if I get called away, that the cartridge will get stuck in the run-out groove and eat vinyl.
