Me and my mate organised a hobbies fair when I was in Std 9 at Pretoria Boys High (1974). We slept in the hall for security, up in the gallery. My bud's dad had a lovely Marantz amp and preamp with Tannoy speakers and a good turntable, and we shlepped it up there between the rows of pews, tilting the speakers at 45 degrees up . We spread our sleeping bags, had a few beers and a smoke (gave us a thrill!) and then blasted out Yessongs at 3/4 max with the lights off!. We were out of earshot of the dorms, or the heavy drapes muffled it, no one came to kak on us and we listened to all three vinyls.. Still love that vinyl/Tannoy sound, full and spacy!
