It have plans to convert 1704 to NOS, but Rudi must assist and we have tried to get together for more than a year and we just don't get to it. <img src="data:image/gif;base64,R0lGODlhAQABAIAAAAAAAP///yH5BAEAAAAALAAAAAABAAEAAAIBRAA7" class="smilie smilie--sprite smilie--sprite1" alt=":)" title="Smile :)" loading="lazy" data-shortname=":)" /></p></blockquote><p></p>
HI Gavin its a basic built with 1 board, a waivo usb board and a simple power supply. It sounds great in comparison to many commercial DACs that i had in my system. I tried a shunt regulated power supply but prefer the oversized and straight forward supply that I use currently. I still need to get some nice chokes to complete power supply, its still has some hum.. :( I have used it with Mundorf output caps, with transformers and straight into my integrated Pathos that has a cap in series on input and prefer the latter, although i think that the transformers might have some benefit of filtering out some edgy stuff on more modern recordings. I intend to get one more board( maybe) and upgrade the loading resistors, the caps and the regulators on the main and dac boards with probably from Tent. I don't think I can life with the Sabre after this NOS. I might have the detail and is not harsh but has no meat on the bones and lack the emotive quality of the NOS. It have plans to convert 1704 to NOS, but Rudi must assist and we have tried to get together for more than a year and we just don't get to it. :)
