Oh no, sorry to hear. The joys of em 2 yr olds! I had a similar experience where my 2 yr old turned up the vol on my SA-608 to full. When i switched it on, i heard the 'white noise' through the speakers. On investigation, i found the vol turned to max. The speakers were fine but the one channel played low after that - had to get the amp refurbished. I'm sure you've diagnosed the fault correctly, but just out of curiosity, have you tried swapping your left and right speakers just to confirm the amp channels are okay? WRT the speakers, I can't answer your all your questions in my limited technical know-how, but my thoughts as follows: 1. Is the tweeter or the polymer super tweeter distorting? If its the tweeter, I would also get it recoiled by a speaker expert while you wait for a sensible buy on ebay. Don't know if the super-tweeter is repairable. Perhaps someone here could shed some light... 2. Woofer surround - i've seen HPM surround repair kits on ebay...perhaps purchase one of those and find a reputable speaker repairer in Jhb to do the very delicate operation - nothing beats an experienced hand for this. (Sorry i only know of a speaker repairer in Dbn). Keep us posted of the progress.
