Phew! This topic has been dragged out to the limit ;) I don't think there are really hard and fast rules to what the settings for the main speakers should be, it is a case of experiment and set it to what you like it to be. I do seem to recall an article I read a few years ago that suggested that the THX recommended setting is to set the main speakers to "small" and the LFE crossover to 80Hz, but I can't find that article anymore. As Byrd said the settings do differ between AVRs and in this case I think of my friends Harmon Kardon that has the ability to set the crossover per channel even when the speakers are set to "small". For instance you can set the crossover for the mains to 60Hz and have them set as "small". What does that combination really give you? Okay, I have provided my 2 cents and will try and catch up on the arguments in this topic again in two weeks or so - there are other topics that does take less time to read ;)
