Quantifiably substandard is your reliance on measurements that are not the be all and end all of an audio product's performance. Ever heard of 'voicing' of a product whilst being developed? Listening tests which forms a critical part? As to the 'poor performance', (your way of calling it) the better sound from the stereo pre-amp vs. the surround pre-amp goes to the gist of the discussion topic. Also, what you call poor performance, was still good enough for the product to receive rave write ups in various unrelated press articles and reviews. Comparing Oscar's and Grammy's with the reviews done by the most reputable hi-fi press in the world that includes the same bench measurement's that you rely on... Really? Thank you for confirming something about the advertising industry which most have suspected. I wonder whether your employer acquiesced, given your seemingly strong abhorrence in "Awards"... Advertising is many times referred to as smoke & mirrors. Those with the deepest pockets end up creating a narrative that many times is far removed from reality. Now I do have a better understanding on some of you deliberations. Case closed!
