A friend of mine bought himself an HD plasma TV a week or so ago and subsequently found that the TV does not have any audio outputs. He has an Xbox that he plugs into the TV via HDMI(Video & Audio) and is now looking at buying an AVR that he can connect the HDMI from the Xbox and route Video to the TV and audio played back via the AVR. His budget is as he stated "As low as possible" because he is no audio freak. Would something like the Yamaha RX-V365 do the trick as it has two HDMI inputs and one output(passthrough)? Anything else you can suggest? Bear in mind that he will not only have to buy an AVR, but speakers as well. Is there perhaps anything from Samsung or LG that may do the trick(I did say as cheap as possible LOL!)
