We’ve had to measure water ingress height above floor level for insurers. Close enough to 900mm in our case. Although it surged past our house. Higher than 900 apparently on one side. I guess it may have been blockage released upstream causing a surge. Luckily we live in an amazingly generous village. So many folks assisting. Sadly some crazy xxx’s stole our washing today at the temporary accommodation we’ve been staying at. Water is a scary threat when out of our control. Our friend has a son in Franschhoek looking after 80 international travellers who can’t get out. Sadly I understand there was loss of life elsewhere. So sad. Some of our elderly neighbors were badly shocked. We has Sea Rescue assisting evacuation from second storey windows
