For me, vinyl will always be my first choice as it has since I first span a 7? single of ?The Wombling Song? on my parents? radiogram (probably aged about 4), that radiogram may have been not that great for records but started me on listening. I started buying tapes first (and copying neighbours? Records) with a Sanyo Walkman, then when I went back to the UK at 15 started buying records with whatever money I had to play on a cheap midi system. At 17 I started saving from weekend and school holiday jobs (worked pretty much every kitchen job and factory line stuff) then by my 18th had enough to buy a NAD amp and Dual TT, got my speakers for my 18th present and have been buying and listening to records all the way through. Nowadays I buy maybe 20-30 new LPs a year and at least double that second hand. If more were available new I would probably be buying double the new LPs.
