I'm answering my own question here. I hooked up a new pair of the 10.6s that I have up for sale. Just unpacked them. I was surprised, and take back anything I've said about Wharfedale. Auditioning them at Hi-Fi Corp really turned me off Wharfedale. I can see why these speakers cost so much overseas. I think they'll be relaunched at prices that match the overseas prices, once the current stock is sold out. My impressions: Elegant looking speaker - piano gloss front, with wood veneer cabinets Solid floor spikes Bi-wireable with quality gold-plated bridges Warm sound with lots of bass. I doubt you'll need a sub with these, unless you're a bass fiend Decent midrange and highs. The onbes I have are new, so i expect them to open a little. Play nice and loud without distorting Although I am selling the set, this isn't a sales pitch. The brief review may help others things of getting a set. they compare easily with speakers in the R5000-7000 price range. This may be why the quote I got for them was R5100. I anticipate that the new stock will sell for this price. Grab a set from HiFi Corp while stocks last. it wouldn't hurt me if you bought mine either ;D
