I have heard a set owned by Doogle(Barry) and they did sound good. I also own a set of Mageplanar SMGa's There are however some pitfalls with those "type" of speakers(Martin Logan, Quad, Magneplanar) but it is easy to fall in love with their sound. They normally don't appear to play low, but that is a case of personal preference, but it can be sorted by adding a sub Although they normally have a HUGE soundstage, the sweet spot is very narrow They need SPACE to really shine, space from the back wall and side walls. And they need lots of power ;D
