The smart thing would be to do all your filtering in your processor. It all depends on the slope and type of filter in your processor and subwoofer. Ideally you want the processor to filter and have the subwoofer settings as high as possible as you do not want a double filter in effect , resulting in a skewed or notched response at the two slope interactions. That said and done, having changed to a new Onkyo Processor i found a flaw in its filtering when only using an analogue source in a direct mode, it passed the sound unfiltered to the sub. With the sub settings for filtering set as high as possible, you can imagine the horrible sound i ended up with. However i found a way around it. Strangely enough it doesnt do this with a digital source.
